A Rose for Dad

June 9, 2019

Father’s Day as we know it today has always been represented by the rose. People would give red roses to their fathers and to other fathers who they admired. In many countries, people even wear roses to honour their own fathers, a red rose if he is alive and a white rose if he is deceased.

Receiving and appreciating roses is not something exclusive to women. So don’t be afraid to honour Dad with a rose or two. And tell him how you feel so he knows he is appreciated, too.

We know how hard it is to get sentimental with Dad so we put together a few quotes to inspire you and help you put together the words to express what is in your heart.

Dads are most ordinary men, turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song.

Pam Brown

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person: he believed in me.

Jim Valvano

A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.

The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams, and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family.

Reed Markham

To her, the name of father was another name for love.

Fanny Fern

I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.

Sigmund Freud

I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by the little scraps of wisdom.

Umberto Eco
